STARC - Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center of The Cyprus Institute Asst. Professor Evi Margaritis and Research Affiliate Dr Michael Boyd present their work on the Early Bronze Age archaeological project on Keros at this fascinating documentary, filmed during the Cambridge excavation at the island of Dhaskalio. The site revealed unique evidence for monumental architecture and urban development in Europe.

A major part of the research at Keros is funded by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation with Dr Margaritis as the Project Coordinator (URBAN: Excellence Grants EXCELLENCE/1216/0463).

The excavation has also been supported by ‘Promised: Promoting Archaeological Science in the eastern Mediterranean’, a H2020 Twinning project (Grant No 811068) aimed at establishing a strong partnership between the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC) of The Cyprus Institute and two of the international leaders in Archaeological Sciences, KU Leuven and the University of Cambridge.

STARC has played a major role in the project, with a large number of faculty, staff, PhD and Erasmus students having been involved in the excavation and post excavation work: E. Margaritis, M. Boyd, G. Artopoulos, E. Nikita, M. Georgakopoulou, M. Gkouma, S. Hermon, O. Cizer, D. Abate, M. Faka, M. Deligiorgi, K. Tsirtsi, C. Henkel, S. Gkinoudis and D. Redamante. EEWRC has also been involved with the drone team: A. Leonidou, C. Costandinides and P. Vouterakos.

CyI Graduate School in collaboration with the University of Cambridge had organized the 2016 and 2017 Keros Cycladic Field Schools, the members of which are featured in this film, receiving training in excavation and post excavation work.
